About Good Grommet

My love for art and design has endured throughout my entire career. A love for type and design started in my early career in advertising and newspapers when we had huge printing presses and decades before digital news was a thing.

Having studied marketing and photography, I took my hand to learning to screen printing, something my mother did when I was a pre-schooler. I remember hearing her late at night in her shed studio pulling screens and hearing the repetitive sound of the squeegee being pulled over the tight silk thunking on the heavy wooden frame each pull, she was making band shirts, posters and uniforms for local sports teams. The sound of the rubber squeegee pulling ink over the fine silk screen is a sound I can never forget.

The core memory stuck and now I mix my love of art, design, type together with surfing, the Australian coastline and a new found love of camping. I have the pleasure of highlighting some of Australia’s best and most popular surf destinations and making wearable pieces for homes and humans too, all inspired but this place I love to call home.

From hand made jewellery featuring some iconic Australian flora and fauna to a small collections of surf flags featuring famous beaches, national parks and capitals cities to handy camping tools and good gear perfect gifts for girls, guys and grommets alike.

All flags are handmade in Melbourne & all jewellery is handmade in Melbourne using local suppliers. All our earrings are nickel free and use surgical steel or gold plated findings. The best care is taken in making and sourcing high quality pieces.
